I’m just like most of you. When my kids were babies I went out and bought a camera to capture every milestone. I bought my first telephoto lens so I could take pictures of them playing without getting in their way. I went through way too many rolls of film. But to this day, I still love flipping through those early photos.

I loved taking them so much I started cold-calling photographers. At first, I just asked questions about getting into the business. The more I learned, the deeper my passion for photography grew, and I started asking for jobs. I told them I was willing to push a broom at their studios if it meant I could watch and learn. Eventually one of the studios hired me, and I spent the next 20 years leaning into digital photography and building a successful career in this business.
